Box Score SPOKANE, Wash. – The Pepperdine women's basketball team traveled to the Pacific Northwest for a matchup with #21 Gonzaga on Thursday night, falling 95-49 to the Bulldogs.
The Bulldogs (19-2, 15-1 WCC) never trailed the Waves (5-16, 2-15 WCC), opening the game on a 14-0 run.
BIG WAVES
- Junior guard Malia Bambrick (Santa Clarita, Calif./Bishop Alemany HS) led the way with 12 points. She shot 4-for8 from deep.
- Senior forward Monique Andriuolo (Melbourne, Australia/Maribyrnong Secondary College) had seven points, and made two three-pointers.
- Redshirt Sophomore forward Jayda Ruffus-Milner (North Hills, Calif./Harvard-Westlake HS) had. seven points.
PLAY-BY-PLAY
The Bulldogs started the game red-hot from the field, opening the action with a 14-0 run. After Bambrick got the Waves' first basket, Rivera hit two free throws to give the Waves two more. Andriuolo ended the quarter with a three-pointer, but Gonzaga led 27-8 going into the second. Gonzaga kept up the pace in the second quarter, limiting the Waves to just 11 points while scoring 26 of their own. Andriuolo led the Waves in the quarter, scoring four points as the Bulldogs led 53-19 at the half.
The second half was much of the same, as Gonzaga kept up the heat. The Waves did get 12 points in the quarter, including a three-pointer from Bambrick, but the Bulldogs led 78-31 after three quarters of play. Pepperdine had its best quarter in the fourth, scoring 18 points in the quarter, outscoring Gonzaga, who scored 17.
