Women’s Basketball Signs Maggie Mendelson as Graduate Transfer

MALIBU, Calif.  – Pepperdine women's basketball signed All-American Maggie Mendelson as a graduate transfer for the upcoming school year, head coach Katie Faulkner announced Monday afternoon.

"Maggie is an incredible addition to what we're building here in Malibu," Faulkner said. "She brings a high motor, a high ceiling, and most importantly, high character. Her experience on championship-caliber teams is invaluable, and when paired with her unmatched work ethic, I have no doubt her time at Pepperdine will be truly special."

Mendelson comes to Malibu from Penn State as a dual-athlete. As a part of the Penn State women's volleyball team, the Utah native is an All-American and a 2024 National Champion. Prior to Penn State, Mendelson spent two years at the University of Nebraska, Lincoln.

On the Nittany Lions basketball team, Mendelson played in 15 games this past season, starting in five. Currently on the Atlanta Vibe in the Major Volleyball League (MVL), Mendelson will come to Pepperdine with a season of professional volleyball under her belt.

As a 6'5" center, the graduate will bring a championship mentality to Malibu with accolades to show for it. Mendelson is the first transfer to sign with the Waves for the 2026-27 year. This season, Pepperdine finished with the fifth best turnaround in the nation, going from eight wins in the season prior to 21 total wins, including a postseason berth for the first time in seven years.
