RECAP
The Waves were not intimidated by the #14 Cowboys as they started off hot in doubles. Pepperdine won its second doubles point of the season after
Adrian Oetzbach and
Guy Den Ouden upset the #3 tandem in the country in Oklahoma State's Emile Hudd and Matej Vocel, going 6-3.
On court two,
Robert Shelton and
Corrado Summaria earned the doubles point for the Waves by finishing off OSU's Henrik Korsgaard and Matthieu Scaglia 6-4. The Cowboy pair tried to go on a run late in the match but were overpowered by the Waves.
In singles, sophomore Shelton struck first in a match that was never close as the Wave defeated Etienne Donnet 6-1, 6-2 on court five. Freshman phenom Den Ouden upset his victim in a 6-2 first set, while #61 Kellovsky pushed back in the second. Den Ouden blew through the tie-break, however, going 7-0 to put Kellovsky to rest.
Pietro Fellin earned his first clinch point of the season on court six, going 6-2 in the first but giving up three-straight games to Oklahoma State's Bobichon before winning an emotional 6-4 second set, putting the overall score at 4-0 in favor of the Waves.
After a stumble on court four, senior leader Oetzbach delivered an upset win over #49 Matej Vocel on court one, needing only an extra game in the first set 7-5 and then rolling 6-4 in the second for the Waves last win of the afternoon.
On court three,
Daniel De Jonge saw tough competition in #86 Henrik Korsgaard where De Jonge fell in the first set but pushed the second to a six-all tie before eventually losing 12-10 in the unabridged tie break.
