Waves Have Three Home Games This Weekend

MALIBU, Calif. –  The #5-ranked Pepperdine men's water polo hosts three games this weekend, including its first two Golden Coast Conference games against San Jose State on Friday and Saturday. The Waves host LMU on Sunday as well. The two games against San Jose State are the first two of a best-of-five series with the Spartans to determine the Golden Coast Conference Champions.

Game #7: Friday (Feb. 19) at Raleigh Runnels Memorial Pool in Malibu, Calif.: #5 Pepperdine (4-2) vs. #10 San Jose State (0-0) at 10:30 a.m.

Game #8: Saturday (Feb. 20) at Raleigh Runnels Memorial Pool in Malibu, Calif.: #5 Pepperdine vs. #10 San Jose State at 10 a.m.

Game #9: Sunday (Feb. 21) at Raleigh Runnels Memorial Pool in Malibu, Calif.: #5 Pepperdine vs. #6 Loyola Marymount (3-4) at 11 a.m.

Home Attendance: Per the current COVID-19 Guidelines set by the state of California and Los Angeles County, fans will not be permitted to attend home matches at Raleign Runnels Memorial Pool.

Last Week: The Waves defeated California Baptist 15-9 on Wednesday in a midweek matchup with the Lancers. Balazs Kosa and Austin Smit both had hat tricks in the game.Â

National Rankings: The Waves are once again near the top of the Collegiate Water Polo national rankings. The team is currently ranked #5 in the nation after finishing last year at #4.

Team Leaders: Balazs Kosa currently leads the Waves with 24 goals and 10 assists for a total of 34 points. His 24 goals are good for fourth in the nation. Second on the Waves in goals is Sean Ferrari with seven. Kent Emden leads the Waves with 32 saves.

Schroeder: Head Coach Terry Schroeder is in his 26th year of coaching at Pepperdine. His first stint of coaching was from 1986-2005, after which he took an eight-year break to coach the United States National Team.
