LA QUINTA, California – RJ Manke shot 4-under and William Mouw went 3-under to help the Pepperdine men's golf team into first place following Tuesday's second round at The Prestige.

Pepperdine has a two-day total of an 8-under 560 (281-279) at the par-71 Greg Norman Course at PGA West. The Waves are three shots better than both Arizona and Arizona State.

The Waves are looking for their first-ever win at The Prestige. They've finished second four times, including three of the last four years.

PLAYER SCORES

Senior Joey Vrzich (El Cajon, Calif./Christian HS/Nevada) is tied for fifth place with a 2-under 140 (67-73). He had four birdies today, including three in his final four holes.
Sophomore William Mouw (Chino, Calif./Ontario Christian HS) made a big move up the leaderboard, going all the way from 52nd to a tie for 10th with a 1-under 141 (73-68). He had four birdies on Tuesday, with three coming in his first seven holes.
Sophomore Dylan Menante (Carlsbad, Calif./Sage Creek HS) is tied for 19th with an even-par 142 (71-71). His second straight par round included one birdie and one bogey.
Senior RJ Manke (Lakewood, Wash./Bellarmine Prep) also made a big jump, as he was 94th and he's now tied for 25th at 143 (76-67). Starting on the back nine, he had an eagle on the par-4 11th. He had three birdies, including each of his final two holes.
Senior Joshua McCarthy (Danville, Calif./De La Salle HS) is also tied for 25th at 143 (70-73). He had two birdies today.

INDIVIDUAL TOURNAMENT

Forty-four additional golfers are taking part at The Prestige Individual Invitational, held at the nearby par-72 Coral Mountain Golf Club. Four Waves are in the field.

Junior Derek Hitchner (Minneapolis, Minn./The Blake School), who began the day in the lead, is now second with a 10-under 134 (66-69). His 3-under today featured five birdies.
Senior Austin Murphy (Morgan Hill, Calif./Bellarmine College Preparatory) had the best round of his college career, a 7-under 65, moving him to third place with a 9-under 135 (70-65). He had seven birdies (four in the final six holes) and no miscues.
Junior Joe Highsmith (Lakewood, Wash./Bellarmine Prep) is tied for eighth with a 5-under 139 (71-68). He had six birdies on Tuesday, five coming on the front nine.
Senior Clay Feagler (Laguna Niguel, Calif./Dana Hills HS) is 14th with a 3-under 141 (71-70). He posted four birdies today.

UP NEXT

The Waves, Wildcats and Sun Devils will make up the final pairing for Wednesday's final round. They'll start on the first tee at 11:55 a.m.
