Set one was tied 16-16 when the Waves scored four straight points on a kill and a block by Fuller, followed by kills by Dvorak and Steele. Pepperdine eventually won the set on a kill by Wickens.

The Waves scored the first two points of the second set and never trailed. Pepperdine built a five-point lead at 12-7 after a CUI attack error. The Eagles would get within a point a couple of times, but a Steele kill helped Pepperdine extend the lead back up to 21-18, and Pepperdine later went up 2-0 on a block by Steele and Fuller.

The third set was close throughout before the Waves finally pulled away at the end for the three-set sweep.
