SAN FRANCISCO – The Pepperdine women's basketball team completed its three-game road trip on Monday, falling to San Francisco 64-56.
Monique Andriuolo led the Waves with 16 points, and 10 rebounds.
The Waves (3-7, 0-6 WCC) held the lead at the half, but the Dons (7-8, 2-6 WCC) made a second-half comeback to pick up the win.
BIG WAVES
- Senior forward Monique Andriuolo (Melbourne, Australia/Maribyrnong Secondary College) had 16 points and 10 rebounds, leading the Waves in both categories and completing the first double-double for a Wave this season. She shot 5-for-9 from the field and made all six of her foul shots.
- Junior guard Cheyenne Givens (Gardena, Calif./LA Trade Tech) was the only other Waves in double digits, scoring 14 points. She was 6-for-17 from the field and made two three pointers.
GAME RECAP
The first quarter was a back-and-forth affair, with the lead changing nine times.
Malia Bambrick (Santa Clarita, Calif./Bishop Alemany) had five points in the quarter, and Andriuolo had eight points. Pepperdine retook the lead in the second quarter on a Bambrick jumper halfway through. Two baskets in a row with two minutes left gave the Waves a 30-25 lead into halftime.
Both teams traded baskets to start the second half, but the Dons went on an 8-0 run midway through to take a 45-36 lead. Two baskets and two free throws to end the quarter saw San Francisco with a 51-44 lead going into the final eight minutes of the game. The Dons grew their lead by as many as 11 points in the fourth. The Waves tried to mount a comeback but ran out of time.

- The two teams were relatively even from the field, as the Waves shot 42% and the Dons shot 45%.
- Pepperdine outshot San Francisco from beyond the arc, 38.5%-35.3%.
- The Dons outrebounded the Waves 32-27.
