Theegala & Mouw Named All-American First Team

MALIBU, California – For the first time in program history, the #1 Pepperdine men's golf team has multiple All-American first teamers as both Sahith Theegala and William Mouw earned top honors from the Golf Coaches Association of America and PING today.

In fact, Theegala and Mouw are only the second and third All-American first team selections in Pepperdine men's golf history, following Michael Putnam in 2005.

Theegala is now a three-time All-American, just the third in program history. Mouw becomes the 12th All-American in program history but just the second to do it as a freshman, following Andrew Putnam in 2008.

The duo helped the Waves reach their first-ever #1 regular-season ranking in program history this season. Pepperdine ended the shortened season ranked #1 in the Bushnell/Golfweek coaches poll and by Golfstat.

Theegala (Chino Hills, Calif./Diamond Bar HS), a fifth-year senior, was the top-ranked player in the nation by both Golfstat and Golfweek/Sagarin. In eight tournaments this season, he won twice and posted a school-record 69.04 scoring average. He had six top-10s and was in the top-20 at all eight events. Seventeen of his 24 rounds were below-par. Theegala holds Pepperdine career records for scoring average (70.61) and below-par rounds (74) and is tied for the #1 spot in top-20 finishes (36) and wins (four). He's also a three-time All-WCC honoree and a four-time all-region selection. He is one of three finalists for both the Fred Haskins and Ben Hogan awards.

Mouw (Chino, Calif./Ontario Christian HS) ended his freshman season ranked #10 nationally by Golfstat and #15 by Golfweek/Sagarin. He recorded a 69.96 scoring average in 24 rounds (17 of them below-par) and posted five top-10s and six top-20s in eight tournaments. He earned his first college win at the Amer Ari Invitational. He was named to the U.S. Arnold Palmer Cup team.
