MALIBU, California – Sylvia Mosqueda, head coach of the Pepperdine track and cross country teams, announced the national letter-of-intent signing of three more men's recruits in Johnathan Flint, Andrew Lane and Ryan Hemphill.
"I'm super excited about our new freshmen coming in -- Nate Lannen, Ryan Hemphill, Andrew Lane and Johnathan Flint," said Mosqueda. "They are a strong group of men. These young men are going to be a big game changer for our Pepperdine men's cross country and track teams. I'm super excited to get this team together and start coaching them and to get them on a starting line to see them make some waves."

Johnathan Flint | Flower Mound, Texas
Â
During his time at Flower Mound High School, Flint earned a seventh-place finish at the district cross country meet in 2019 and helped his team to three third-place finishes at the Texas State High School meet in 2016, 2018 and 2019. Â
"My goal as a member of this team is to be a part of something bigger than running," Flint said. "I want to be a leader and inspire a culture of hard work, confidence and compassion for one another. Most importantly, I want to leave the team knowing that I helped make a positive impact as runners and as people."
Â
Flint has also been commended on the National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test, has earned AP Honors Scholar status and is a member of National Spanish Honor Society.
Â
Ryan Hemphill | Visalia, Calif.

Hemphill joins the Waves from Redwood High School, where he specialized in the 400 and 800 meters. He earned a third-place finish at the 2019 West Yosemite League Cross Country Championships. He also helped his team to winning four consecutive West Yosemite League championships in a row.
Â
"I think that I will bring a good attitude to the team" said Hemphill. "I will always work hard and put my teammates first. I'm really looking forward to being part of the team!"
Â
During Hemphill's 2019 track season, he medaled in the distance medley relay at Arcadia, medaled in the 800m and 4x800m relay at Mt.
