MALIBU, California – Sylvia Mosqueda and the Pepperdine men's track and cross country team announced the national letter-of-intent signing by Nate Lannen.
Â
Lennen hails from Southlake Carroll High School in Southlake, Texas where he is a four-year varsity member, specializing in the 5K, mile and two-mile run. He has posted best times in the one mile at 4:19 and the two-mile run at 9:16. Lannen was the district two-mile champion and went on to finish third in the area and fourth in the region.
Â
"I am really excited about this young talented student athlete," said Mosqueda. "Nate will have a huge impact on our men's team. I am super excited to coach him and help develop him into a D1 athlete."
Â
Lannen earned an 11th place finish in the Texas State cross country meet, running a personal record of 14:53. He was also part of the 2019 Cross Country State Championship team and Nike National qualifying team in 2018 and 2019.
Â
"I decided to go to Pepperdine because the welcoming environment really stuck out to me," Lannen said. "Everyone on the campus was kind and open and spoke in such an intelligent way. The athletic aspect was also a big factor. I really like the idea of building the cross country program at Pepperdine and the guys on the team were really cool, genuine guys. I can't wait to get on campus and get to know them and everybody there. Go Waves!"
