SAN DIEGO, Calif. – The Pepperdine women's basketball team dropped its regular-season finale on Saturday, falling to San Diego 62-58.
Hannah Friend led all scorers with 19 points.
The Waves (14-14, 8-10 WCC) led after three quarters, but the Toreros (19-10, 13-5 WCC) overcame a nine-point lead to take the victory.

- Redshirt-senior guard Hannah Friend (San Clemente, Calif./Sacramento State) led all scorers with 19 points. She shot 7-for-13 from the field and 5-for-6 from the free throw line.
- Sophomore guard Malia Bambrick (Santa Clarita, Calif./Bishop Alemany HS) scored 12 points, and shot 3-for-7 from beyond the arc.
- Junior forward Monique Andriuolo (Melbourne, Australia/Maribyrnong Secondary College) had nine points, just one away from a double-double, as she had 11 rebounds.
GAME RECAP
The first quarter was a close affair, as each team went on small runs. The Waves got six points in the quarter from Bambrick and four from Friend. San Diego finished the quarter leading the Waves 19-17.
In the second, the Toreros took a six-point lead with 3:50 left on the clock, but the Waves had a 10-point run to end the quarter and take the lead. Friend had seven points in the second to give the Waves a 34-30 lead heading into the halftime break.
After the break, the Waves came out and scored the first basket, but the Toreros got the next two. After trading baskets for three minutes, the Waves got a jumper and a three to take a seven-point lead with 3:51 left on the clock. A
Paige Fecske (Studio City, Calif./Chaminade HS) three-pointer gave the Waves their largest lead of the night at 50-41, and the Waves led 50-45 going into the final ten minutes.
In the fourth, the toreros tied the game in the midst of an eight-point run and took the lead at 55-53 with 5:50 left in the game. The Waves tied it back up with a Friend jumper, and again with a layup and a free throw, but San Diego hit a three pointer and a free throw to take a four-point lead.

The Waves will have the six-seed in the West Coast Conference Tournament next weekend, as Pacific defeated Santa Clara to take the five-seed.
The Waves wait to see who they will play, but will play on Friday after securing a first-round bye.
