MALIBU, California – Six members of the 2020-21 Pepperdine women's golf team will be in action locally today and Tuesday at the Golfweek Moorpark Amateur at Moorpark Country Club.
This is part of the Golfweek Fall Series, one of 10 tournaments created to fill a void this fall at a time when most schools are not competing. As this is not an official college event, the Waves' players will be competing unattached.
The tournament starts today with 36 holes and the final 18 holes will be played on Tuesday. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, spectators will not be permitted. Live scoring will be displayed on
Golfstat. Both women's and men's events will be taking place concurrently, with 57 men and 39 women competing. Perfect golf weather is expected with temperatures in the 80s and a slight 5-mile-per-hour wind.
On the women's side, some other schools represented include Arizona (four), USC (four), California (three), Fresno State (three), Long Beach State (two) and San Diego State (two).
The four returning Waves – senior
Megan Dennis (Bedfordshire, United Kingdom), junior
Kathrine Chan (Richmond, B.C., Canada), junior
Sifan He (Shanghai, China) and sophomore
Reese Guzman (Kahului, Hawai'i) are all in the field, as are a pair of freshmen,
