MALIBU, Calif. – All members of the Pepperdine men's tennis team will take action this weekend, as four Waves will head to the ITA All-American Championships in Tulsa, Oklahoma, as three will stay in Southern California and travel to the San Diego State Fall Invitational.  Â
Â
WHO, WHAT, WHERE:
Adrian Oetzbach, Enrique Luque Rico, Corrado Summaria and Tim Zeitvogel will all make the trek to Tulsa, where they will compete in the ITA All-American Championships. The pre-qualifying round is set to begin on Saturday, October 5, and will feature 256 players from around the country.
Â
Heading to San Diego will be Pawel Jankowiak and freshmen Robert Shelton and Evan Shamlian as it will be the first outing for Shelton and Shamlian in a Pepperdine uniform. Â
Â
LAST OUTING:
Sophomore Corrado Summaria had quite the weekend over the Oracle/ITA Masters, as he defeated two ranked opponents in the #63 Zdenek Derkas from Fresno State and the #16 player from Texas A&M Hady Habib before eventually falling to Illinois' #23 Alex Brown in the tournament quarterfinals.
Â
Â
Earlier this month, Enrique Luque Rico and Tim Zeitvogel played in the Milwaukee Tennis Classic, also sanctioned by the ITA. Luque Rico dropped his first round match-up 1-6, 5-7 to Tennessee's Patrick Harper but made it into the round of 16 in the consolation bracket. Zeitvogel won his first match 4-6, 6-2, 6-2 over Alex Jochim of IUPUI but lost in the round of 32 in the main draw. In doubles, the two defeated their first round opponents 8-6 before faltering in the second round.
