
Waves Ready for Oracle/ITA Masters

MALIBU, Calif. – The Pepperdine men's and women's tennis teams will play host to the Oracle ITA Masters from Thursday, September 26th through Sunday, September 29th at both the Malibu Racquet Club and the Ralphs-Straus Tennis Center.

COVERAGE:
Pepperdine will provide live streaming of all matches via Playsight, as live scoring will be provided by Tennis Ticker courtesy of the ITA. Select matches played at the Malibu Racquet Club will be streamed via TempuZ on the ITA's official website. In addition, the finals for all three brackets will be aired on ESPN3.

Matches begin at 8:00 a.m. PT on Thursday at Ralphs-Straus and the Racquet Club and continue through Sunday.

ABOUT THE MASTERS:
The 5th annual Oracle Masters serves as the first ITA national championship of the 2019-20 season. The draws include 32 players per singles bracket and a 16-team mixed doubles draw. The winners of the men's and women's singles brackets earn an automatic entry into the 2019 Oracle ITA National Fall Championships in November.

PEPPERDINE PARTICIPANTS:
Representing the Waves will be #14 Ashley Lahey, #32 Jessica Failla from the women's team and Corrado Summaria from the men's side. It will be Failla's second appearance in the Oracle/ITA Masters and Lahey and Summaria's first.

No. 14 Lahey begins her senior season off of a run in the 2019 NCAA Singles Championship after making a push into the second round. She and doubles partner Daria Kuczer helped the Waves to a doubles point in Pepperdine's last match against Stanford in the 2019 NCAA Championship Quarterfinals as the 86th-ranked pair defeated the 19th-ranked team of Emily Arbuthnott and Michaela Gordon. Playing the No. 1 singles position throughout the 2018-19 season, Lahey went 19-8.

No. 32 Failla also completed her 2018-19 season in the singles championship. Ranked #41 in doubles with partner Anastasia Iamachkine, the pair earned a win over the #19 tandem of Caroline Lampl and Kimberly Yee of Stanford in the 2019 NCAA Championship Quarterfinals and helped grab the doubles point. Failla also went 18-6 overall in singles and 19-9 in doubles with Iamachkine.

Summaria closed out his 2018-19 season with two wins at the No. 2 doubles and singles positions, defeating LMU's Ethan Prost and Lucas Moreno with partner Enrique Luque Rico 6-4. He then beat Nick Borchenko 6-4, 6-1. Summaria also went out winning five of his last seven complete singles matches.

After the Masters tournament, several women's players will head to the Riviera Invitational as members of the men's side will head to Norman, Oklahoma to compete in an M25 tournament.
