MALIBU, Calif. – Three members of the Pepperdine men and women's tennis teams impressed during the first day of the Oracle/ITA Masters on Thursday, as #14 Ashley Lahey, #32 Jessica Failla and Corrado Summaria cruised past their first round opponents.

RECAP
Mixed doubles tandems opened the day at the 2019 Oracle/ITA Masters, as Pepperdine partners Jessica Failla and Corrado Summaria defeated the Virginia Commonwealth team of Martin and Delgado 6-2. Senior Ashley Lahey found a teammate in fellow West Coast Conference competitor Gui Osorio from San Diego, beating their opposition of Texas A&M's Mottet and Sam Houston's Yamalapalli 6-4.

The second round of doubles proved to trip up team Waves, as Summaria and Failla dipped to the No. 1-seeded pair of Smith and Forbes from UCLA 2-6. Team WCC, however, defeated the UCF pair of Decamps and Zeleva 6-3 to advance to Friday's quarterfinal round. There, they'll take on the winner of 3^rd-seed Habib (Texas A&M) - Graham (North Carolina) and Vashistha – Livianu of St. John's.

In singles, all three Waves coasted through the first round of play in front of a home audience. No. 14 Lahey took no time in winning over Ana Joyner of Army West Point 6-1, 6-1, while teammate #32 Failla followed suit, defeating Liberty's Kalani Soli in straight sets, 6-1, 6-1. On the men's side, Summaria delivered a loss to Zdenek Derkas of Fresno State, going 6-2, 6-1.
