Golf Teams Picked to Repeat as WCC Champions

MALIBU, California – Both the Pepperdine men's and women's golf teams have been unanimously picked to repeat as champions in the West Coast Conference, while seven student-athletes picked up preseason All-WCC honors.

Pepperdine's men took up half of the 10-member preseason team with Clay Feagler, Joe Highsmith, Joshua McCarthy, RJ Manke and Sahith Theegala all being selected. Kathrine Chan and Momoka Kobori landed on the women's team.

Last year, the men won their 20th WCC title and the women captured their 18th, both far more than any other conference school. The Pepperdine men went on to finish 11th at the NCAA Championships.

Golfweek had both teams highly rated in its preseason national rankings, putting the Waves' men at #2 and the women at #25.

Coaches were not allowed to vote for their own teams or players in the WCC's preseason polls. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible for the preseason All-WCC teams.

Pepperdine's men begin their second tournament of the fall on Friday at the Fighting Illini Invitational in Olympia Fields, Illinois. The women play their third tournament at next week's Golfweek Conference Challenge in Wolcott, Colorado.
