Water Polo Has Home Opener This Week

MALIBU, Calif. –The No. 6 Pepperdine men's water polo team looks to improve upon its 8-1 record this week, facing two top-10 teams in UC Santa Barbara and UCLA. The Waves will also face off against Ottawa University of Arizona in the team's first season as an NCAA program. Saturday's game against UCLA is the first game of the year at Raleigh Runnels Memorial Pool.

Game #10: Thursday (Sept. 19) at 2:30 p.m. at the Campus Pool in Santa Barbara, Calif. : No. 6 Pepperdine (8-1) vs. Ottawa (1-7).

Game #11: Thursday (Sept. 19) at 5:00 p.m. at the Campus Pool in Santa Barbara, Calif.: No. 6 Pepperdine vs. No. 2 UC Santa Barbara (9-0).

Game #12: Saturday (Sept. 21) at 12:00 p.m. at Raleigh Runnels Memorial Pool in Malibu, Calif.: No. 6 Pepperdine vs. No. 2 UCLA (5-0).

Conference Leaders: Balazs Kosa leads all Golden Coast Conference players in goals (25), assists (15) and points (40). Curtis Jarvis is also in the top five in goals scored with 19 and total points wtih 27. Â

Last Week: Pepperdine rolled through last weekend, winning all five games it played and averaging 12 goals a game. Balazs Kosa led the Waves with 15 goals on the weekend, good for a hat trick a game on average.

National Rankings: The Waves are once again near the top of the Collegiate Water Polo national rankings. The Collegiate Water Polo Association has Pepperdine ranked #6 in the third week of the season.

Schroeder: Head Coach Terry Schroeder is in his 27th year of coaching at Pepperdine. His first stint of coaching was from 1986-2005, after which he took an eight-year break to coach the United States National Team.
