Waves Run at UC Riverside on Saturday

MALIBU, California -- The Pepperdine men's and women's cross country teams will compete in their second meet of the season at the UC Riverside Invitational this Saturday morning.
MEET DETAILS
The meet begins at 7:30 a.m. at the UCR Agricultural Operations Course in Riverside. The top runners will be entered in the Invitational races (women's 6K at 7:30 a.m., men's 8K at 8:05 a.m.), and there will also be Open races (women's 5K at 8:40 a.m. and men's 8K at 9:10 a.m.). Pepperdine plans to have competitors in all four races.

"The men and women are both looking strong. We're looking to get some personal records from some of our athletes this weekend."

- The cross country men are still ranked at #14 in the preseason NCAA West Region.
- The men's and women's teams placed 6th and 10th respectively at the Mark Covert Classic two weeks ago, to open the season.
- Sophomore Karl Winter (Stockton, Calif./Saint Mary's HS) started off the season leading the Waves at the Mark Covert Classic two weeks ago, where he came in 5th.
- Sophomore Kyle McCabe (Westminster, Colo./Holy Family HS) was second for the Waves in 10th place last weekend.
- Senior Jalen Frantal (Westerville, Ohio./Westerville Central HS), started strong by placing 12th.
- Freshman Skyler Danley (Easton, Pa./Easton Area HS) made her college debut by leading the Waves for the women, taking 27th place at the Mark Covert Classic.
- Junior Abbey Meck (Santa Cruz, Calif./San Lorenzo Valley HS), the Waves top women's runner the past two years, is hoping to make a return after sitting out the last meet.
