Five Waves Garner WCC All-Academic Honors

MALIBU, Calif. – Five student-athletes from the #6 Pepperdine beach volleyball team garnered West Coast Conference All-Academic acclaim, as announced the league office on Wednesday afternoon.  Senior Maddie Dilfer and sophomore Brook Bauer earned first team nods, while seniors Skylar Caputo, Heidi Dyer and Nikki Lyons all tabbed honorable mention accolades.

In order to be nominated, a student-athlete must have at minimum a 3.20 grade point average, have at least sophomore standing and have participated in 50 percent of the season's events.

Maddie Dilfer (Saratoga, Calif./Valley Christian HS/Notre Dame) has collected a 3.68 grade point average while studying Global Business as a graduate student. She also finished her degree in Sport Administration last season in her senior year. The honor is Dilfer's second first team nod as she also earned it in 2018.  In 2018, she was also on the Dean's List (Seaver College), Pepperdine Athletics Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year and is a three-time Pepperdine Scholar-Athlete and WCC Commissioner's Honor Roll with gold honors. Â

Brook Bauer (Fort Lauderdale, Fla./St. Thomas Aquinas HS) earned the first team recognition after tabbing a 3.48 grade point average while studying business administration. She was a Pepperdine Scholar-Athlete and a WCC Commissioner's Honor Roll silver honoree in 2018 in the classroom, while also earning WCC Freshman of the Year honors, along with a All-WCC first team nod. She also garnered VolleyMob and Volleyball Magazine All-American second team honors last season.

Skylar Caputo (Manhattan Beach, Calif./Mira Costa HS) has marked a 3.331 GPA in Sport Administration after four years at Pepperdine. She has earned honorable mention nods the last two seasons, while being a four-time Pepperdine Scholar-Athlete and WCC Commissioner's Honor Roll bronze honors. In the sand, she tabbed VolleyMob All-American first team honors in 2018, as well as All-WCC first team honors. She earned second team nods in 2016 and 2017 as well and also in 2018, she was on the NCAA All-Tournament Team. Â

Heidi Dyer (San Clemente, Calif./Saddleback Valley Christian Academy) amassed a 3.275 grade point average in Integrated Marketing Communications. She has earend honorable mention nods the past two seasons along with this one. She also has been a three-time Pepperdine Scholar-Athlete and WCC Commissioner's Honor Roll bronze honoree. She also garnered AVCA and DiG Magazine All-American first team acclaim in 2016 and VolleyMob All-American second team. She tabbed All-WCC first team honors in 2018 and second team honors in 2017.

Nikki Lyons (Fort Lauderdale, Fla./St. Thomas Aquinas HS) tabbed a 3.218 GPA in Sport Administration. She has earned Pepperdine Scholar-Athlete honors the last three seasons, as well as WCC Commissioner's Honor Roll bronze honors. Â
