#6 Waves Cruise by San Francisco

MALIBU, Calif. – The 6th-ranked Pepperdine women's tennis team defeated West Coast Conference opponent San Francisco 4-1 on Friday afternoon at the Ralphs-Straus Tennis Center.
With today's win, the Waves move to 18-3 overall and an impressive 8-0 in WCC play in a 15-match winning streak spanning back to February 24th and a 5-2 win over then #10 Northwestern. Pepperdine also has the chance to clinch the regular season title with a win over Santa Clara on Saturday afternoon.

#6 Pepperdine was down two players to begin doubles play, giving San Francisco a 1-0 lead off of a win by forfeit to come in the singles portion. Only courts one and two saw doubles action, where Dzina Milovanovic and Adrijana Lekaj struck first, blanking USF pair Shanna Dos Santos and Rita Colyer 6-0.
Ashley Lahey and Daria Kuczer snatched the doubles point for the Waves, going 6-3 over Mya Bui and Emliy Maxfield on court one, evening the overall score at 1-1.
In singles, the short-handed Waves played determined as usual, where the 33rd-ranked Lahey swept Bui on court one to finish first for the Waves, putting the score at 2-1 for the home team.
Next to finish was Milovanovic on court three, who only allowed Hannah Borjeson one game en route to a 6-0, 6-1 win for Pepperdine. Satsuki Takamura followed suit, defeating Rita Colyer on court five for the clinch point and winning the match for the Waves 4-1.
NEXT UP
The Waves close out regular season play against Santa Clara on Saturday at noon. Prior to the match, seniors Dzina Milovanovic, Jessica Failla and Adrijana Lekaj will be honored in a Senior Day presentation.
Pepperdine will then look to the WCC Championship in Claremont, Calif. next weekend, beginning on Thursday, April 24th. Match times and matchups are still to be determined.
