LAS VEGAS, Nevada – The Pepperdine men's golf team saw a nine-stroke improvement in Monday's second round of the Southern Highlands Collegiate, annually one of the nation's best tournaments. But, the Waves find themselves in 10th place heading into the final round.

The Waves have a two-day total of a 3-over 579 (294-285) at the par-72 Southern Highlands Golf Club. Four of the teams in the field are in Golfstat's top 10, eight are in the top 25 (including the #13 Waves) and 14 of the 15 teams are in the top 50. Pepperdine is currently ahead of two of the top-10 teams in #6 USC and #7 Auburn.

PLAYER SCORES

Junior Joshua McCarthy (Danville, Calif./De La Salle HS) is tied for 10th place with a 3-under 141 (71-70). He was 1-over after 11 holes, but then recorded four birdies in his final seven holes, including two to end the round on 17 and 18, to finish at 2-under on the day.
Sophomore RJ Manke (Lakewood, Wash./Bellarmine Preparatory School) is tied for 30th at 146 (74-72). His even-par round included three birdies.
Junior Clay Feagler (Laguna Niguel, Calif./Dana Hills HS) is tied for 37th at 147 (76-71). He bounced back nicely with a 1-under 71 that included three birdies.
Sophomore Austin Murphy (Morgan Hill, Calif./Bellarmine College Preparatory) is also tied for 37th at 147 (73-74).
Freshman Joe Highsmith (Lakewood, Wash./Bellarmine Prep) is tied for 49th at 149 (77-72). During his even-par round, he had a bogey on his first hole, then was flawless the rest of the day and picked up a birdie on 16.

Pepperdine is paired with USC and Auburn for Tuesday's third and final round, which will start at 8:33 a.m. on the 10th tee. Golfweek.com will be livestreaming the final round.
