Round 1 Results

PALO ALTO, California – Joshua McCarthy shot an even-par 70, putting him into a tie for 11th place, to help get the Pepperdine men's golf team started at The Goodwin on Thursday.

The Waves are tied for 14th place out of 27 teams after one round. They shot an opening 293 at the par-70 Stanford Golf Course. But, they're only six shots out of fifth place. Pepperdine is one of 13 top 50 teams in the field.

PLAYER SCORES

Junior Joshua McCarthy (Danville, Calif./De La Salle HS) had five birdies during his even-par round, four of which came on his first eight holes.
Sophomore RJ Manke (Lakewood, Wash./Bellarmine Preparatory School) is tied for 52nd after a 74. He had three birdies.
Freshman Joe Highsmith (Lakewood, Wash./Bellarmine Prep) is also tied for 52nd with a 74. He had four birdies, including two on his final three holes.
Junior Clay Feagler (Laguna Niguel, Calif./Dana Hills HS) is tied for 76th after a 75. He had three birdies.
Freshman Derek Hitchner (Minneapolis, Minn./The Blake School) is also tied for 76th with a 75. He had an eagle on the par-5 seventh hole, and one birdie.

UP NEXT

The Waves will again be paired with California and SMU for Tuesday's second round. They'll be part of the morning wave and will start on the 10th hole at 7:30 a.m.
