#7 Waves Make Short Trip to PCH Cup Rival LMU

MALIBU, Calif. – Coming off three wins against #6 UCLA, #41 Rice and #8 Texas, the #7 women's tennis team will travel to LMU on Saturday.
DUAL MATCH 12: #7 Pepperdine vs. LMU | 11:00 a.m. PT | Saturday, March 23 at the LMU Tennis Center in Los Angeles, Calif.
LOOKING AHEAD: Next, Pepperdine will be traveling to Northern California for more WCC play against Pacific and Saint Mary's on March 29th and 30th.
THE WAVES: The Waves are 8-3 this dual season overall. Senior, #80 Adrijana Lekaj has composed the most singles wins for the Waves with 19, including being tied for the most wins for the Waves in the dual season with a 6-4 output. Anastasia Iamachkine claims the next highest record with 15 wins this season including going 5-1 in the dual campaign, Satsuki Takamura and Daria Kuczer each have four singles wins this dual season so far.
Throughout singles tournament and dual action combined, #45 Ashley Lahey currently has a 12-6 overall season record and is tied with Lekaj for most wins in dual action, going 6-2. #71Jessica Failla has posted an 10-6 overall record and Dzina Milovanovic currently holds an 11-7 record on the season.
In doubles this season, the Waves have collected a 16-10 record for a .615 success rate. #16 Failla and Iamachkine have amassed a 11-5 overall record including going 6-1 against ranked opponents. The pair of Lahey and Kuczer are currently 3-0 in dual play.
OPPONENT NOTES: Pepperdine travels to LMU this weekend. All-time the Waves have gone 40-2 against the Lions dating back to 1976 with their only two losses being in 2002 and 2003.
The Lions are currently 4-3 this dual season, defeating Florida International, #46 Arkansas, UC Santa Barbara, and Marquette but falling to Oregon, #8 UCLA and #13 USC. LMU has no ranked singles or doubles players.
LAST WEEK AGAINST UCLA, RICE, TEXAS: Last week, the Waves hosted #6 UCLA on Wednesday before traveling to #41 Rice and #8 Texas.
In the match against #8 UCLA, the Waves received the doubles point after wins from the pair of Lahey and Kuczer as well as Lekaj and Milovanovic. They went on to sweep the Bruins with singles wins from Lahey, Iamachkine, and Lekaj clinching the match with a win over #10 Elysia Bolton going 6-4, 7-5.
Following their sweep against the Bruins, the Waves traveled to #41 Rice, defeating the Owls 4-2. In doubles, Lahey and Kuczer picked up a win with #16 Failla and Iamachkine clinching the doubles point by defeating #53 Niezgoda and Smirnova. The Waves won 4-2 after singles wins from Lahey, Failla, and Kuczer.
The Waves' third win of the week came in their match against #8 Texas, going 5-2 against the Longhorns. In doubles, Lahey and Kuczer defeated #67 Labraña and Markovic, followed by a win from Lekaj and Milovanovic to secure the doubles point for the Waves. In singles Lahey, Milovanovic, Kuczer and Iamachkine each picked up a win to finish the match and help the Waves to the 5-2 win.
WCC PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Ashley Lahey and Daria Kuczer of the #7 Pepperdine women's tennis team swept the West Coast Conference weekly honors for helping the Waves to wins against three ranked opponents last week, including top-10 victories over #6 UCLA and #8 Texas.
Ashley Lahey earned both singles and doubles honors, while Daria Kuczer was also in the doubles honors. This is the fourth honor for both singles and doubles for the Waves. It is the first honor for Kuczer in her career. Lahey has received singles honors on six occasions and doubles three times in her career.
