#20 Waves Upset #6 Bruins with Sweep at Home

MALIBU, Calif. – The #20 Pepperdine women's tennis team headed to Ralphs-Straus Tennis Center looking for the upset against #6 UCLA on Wednesday afternoon, winning the doubles point to set the tone and then continuing with three singles victories to complete the first sweep over the Bruins in program history.

Pepperdine's (6-3) Adrijana Lekaj clinched the overall victory with an impressive two-set win over #10 Elysia Bolton to highlight the day.Â

Pepperdine came out swinging in doubles, pulling ahead on courts two and three late in the action. Adrijana Lekaj and Dzina Milovanovic would be the first to strike on court three, with a 6-4 win over Abi Altick and Elysia Bolton.  After the Waves on court one fell, Ashley Lahey and Daria Kuczer pulled together and defeated Gabby Andrews and Alaina Miller 6-4 to clinch the doubles point and send the Waves into singles with the advantage.

#56 Lahey then opened singles action with a 6-3, 6-4 win on court one over #64 Jada Hart to continue the home team's momentum. Â On court six, Anastasia Iamachkine put the Waves in a position to clinch after putting up a pair of 6-4 set wins over Andrews.
