Waves Have Good Day Two at PCSC Championships

LA MIRADA, Calif. – The Pepperdine women's swim and dive team ended day two of the Pacific Coast Swim and Dive Championships in third place, with 420 points in the overall meet. The team is just five points behind Fresno Pacific in second place, and 28 points behind Cal State East Bay in first place.
The Waves broke yet another school record on Thursday, as the 200 free relay team of Caroline Boone, Amy Griffin, Sammie Slater and Trinity Ishikawa beat the program record.
MEET RECAP
In the 200 free relay, the team got off to a great start, making the first turn in first place. The team finished with a time of 1:35.53, a full second faster than the previous record, which has stood since 1999.
Coming off a night in which she swam the third-best 1,000 free in school history, Khloe McCarthy swam another great race in the 500 free, taking second place with a time of 5:00.85.
The 50 free had two great finishes for the Waves. Boone took fourth place with a time of 23.88 and Griffin took sixth place with a time of 24.16. Ryane Skinner swam a hard 200 IM, taking sixth place with a time of 2:08.73.Â

"I'm very proud of this group!" said head coach Joe Spahn. "We had great swims in the morning. Tonight was electric! Everyone swimming came back even faster because they were lifted up by their teammates. Tomorrow is a new day and everyone gets in the game now. They are ready to roll!
"The 200 free relay was amazing! Breaking a 20 year old record by a full second. Our 500s were great, capped off with Khloe McCarthys 2nd place that had a gutsy last 50! Ryane skinner had a tough 200 IM and our 50s were great!"
