Waves Host LMU Friday

MALIBU, Calif. – The Pepperdine women's swim and dive team will be back home this Friday, hosting Loyola Marymount. The last time the Waves faced off against the Lions was at the PCSC Relays in October where Pepperdine secured a dominating 217-66 win.
MEET DETAILS:Â The meet will begin at 5 p.m. on Friday (November 8) and will be held at Raleigh Runnels Memorial Pool in Malibu, California. The meet will be livestreamed at pepperdinewaves.com.

LAST SHOWING:Â The Waves had a solid showing in their last meet at UC Davis, splitting both days with wins against Cal State East Bay and losses to UC Davis. Freshman Emily Morton swam an impressive 200 backstroke on day one, beating all competitors and setting a new school record at 2:04.19. The previous record stood for nearly 25 years at 2:04.38. Junior Sammie Slater led the Waves in the 500 freestyle swimming a lifetime best at 5:11.53, which was good for sixth during the first day.

On the second day, the women's 200 medley relay, the team of Caroline Eckel, Morton, Sarah Hamilton, and Amy Griffin took home a fourth place finish in a time of 1:48.71. Eckel also posted an excellent performance in the 100 backstroke, tying for fourth overall in a time of 59.21. Morton had another great swim on day two in the 400 IM, where she finished third with a time of 4:33.08.
QUOTABLE: Head Coach Joe Spahn says: "This Friday should be a lot of fun. It's a great opportunity to swim fast at home and under the lights. LMU is a good team with a lot of talent, so it should make for a competitive meet."
SPAHN: Head Coach Joe Spahn enters his second year as the head coach of Pepperdine women's swimming and diving. During his first season as head coach, he led the Waves to a second-place finish at the PCSC Championships, took two swimmers to the CSCAA National Invitational Championships and set five school records.
