Waves Head to WCC Championship in Van Nuys

MALIBU, California – The Pepperdine men's and women's cross country teams are headed just through the canyon to Van Nuys, the Waves will run at the West Coast Conference Championship meet on Friday morning.
MEET DETAILS
The race will be hosted by Loyola Marymount University at Woodley Lakes Golf Course in Van Nuys, Calif. on Friday. The women's 6K will start at 10 a.m., followed by the men's 8K at 11:00 a.m. The meet will be live streamed by the WCC Network.
MEN'S TEAM
The men's cross country team made their way back into NCAA West Region rankings by U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association, currently sitting at #14.

Sophomore Karl Winter (Stockton, Calif./Saint Mary's HS) has led the Waves for the men in three of the four regular season meets. He has improved in every race this season with his season-best showing at the Bronco Invitational, where he posted a time of 24:31.3 in the men's 8K.
The Waves #2-5 runners for the Bronco Invitational were sophomore Jackson Felkins (Clearwater, Fla./Palm Harbor University HS), sophomore Kyle McCabe (Westminster, Colo./Holy Family HS), senior Jalen Frantal (Westerville, Ohio/Westerville Central HS), and junior Preston Gromer (Casper, Wyo./Kelly Walsh HS). All of the top five men this season are among the 11 fastest 8K runners in program history.
WOMEN'S TEAM
Freshman Skyler Danley (Easton, Pa./Easton Area HS) led the women's team for three out of the four regular season meets. In the last meet Danley posted a personal record in the women's 6K with a time of 22:09.1 which moved her into the 10th spot on the Pepperdine all-time performance list. Â

Senior Cori Persinger (Lee's Summit, Mo./Lee's Summit West HS) has consistently been one of the top runners for the Waves this season as well, including being second on the team at the Bronco Invitational and the top runner on the team at the Capital Cross Challenge in September. Her time of 22:15.0 in the women's 6K at the Capital Cross Challenge was a personal record and moved her up to the number 12 position on the Pepperdine all-time performance list.
The team's #3-5 runners for the Bronco Invitational were sophomore Key Pearson (Bainridge Island, Wash./Vistamar School) freshman Olivia Miller (Tallahassee, Fla./Lawton Chiles HS) and senior Izabela Gracia-Arce (Bonita, Calif/Bonita Vista HS).

Head coach Sylvia Mosqueda says: "The last four meets have been stepping stones for the conference meet. Every meet that they've been running, they've seen improvements and personal records especially on the men's side but also on the women's side. Everything is panning out perfectly for conference and I t's exciting to have the meet so close to home so we can have a lot of people come out and support."
