Men’s Water Polo Heads North for Tough Slate of Games

Malibu, Calif. –The No.5 Pepperdine men's water polo team heads north for a tough weekend of games against two top-5 teams. On Saturday, the Waves face off against #3 Pacific in a Golden Coast Conference matchup before taking on the nation's top team in Stanford on Sunday.

Game #24: Sunday (Oct. 27) at 12 p.m. at Avery Aquatics Center in Palo Alto, Calif.: No. 5 Pepperdine vs. #1 Stanford (14-1).

Last Week: The Waves stayed perfect in October last week with two wins. GCC play began with a 14-10 win over UC Irvine on Friday night before the Waves took on USC on Saturday, defeating the Trojans 13-12, marking the first time since 2005.

Notable: The Waves have two hallmark wins thus far in 2019: On Oct. 12, Pepperdine defeated #6 California 13-12 for the first time since 2008. Then one week later, the Waves defeated USC 13-12 for the first time since 2005 ... Marko Asic has been steadily climbing the all-time goal scoring ranks this year, and is currently tied for fifth all-time with 225 goals. He is just 14 goals behind his father Pero on the list, who has 239.

Player of the Week: Two members of the team have earned Player of the Week honors in back-to-back weeks. Balazs Kosa earned it on 10/10 after his performances against Pomona-Pitzer and Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, and Marko Asic brought home the honors on 10/17 after helping the Waves over Cal.
