Waves Head to UC Irvine, Host USC

Malibu, Calif. – The No. 6 Pepperdine men's water polo team has two games this week, first traveling to UC Irvine on Friday before hosting #4 USC on Saturday.

Game #21: Friday (Oct. 16) at 6 p.m. at Anteater Aquatics Complex in Irvine, Calif.: No. 6 Pepperdine (15-5) at #12 UC Irvine (6-7).

Game #22: Saturday (Oct. 5) at 2 p.m. at Raleigh Runnels Memorial Pool in Malibu, Calif.: No. 6 Pepperdine vs. #4 USC (9-3).

Conference Leaders: Balazs Kosa leads all Golden Coast Conference players in goals scored (58) and points (81) and is in a tie for second in assists with 23. Curtis Jarvis is also in the top 10 in goals (28), assists (20) and total points (48). Marko Asic has 37 goals, good for fourth in the GCC.

Last Week: The Waves had the biggest win of the season thus far on Saturday, defeating Cal 13-12 in overtime. It was the first time that the Waves beat the Bears since 2008. To cap off the weekend, the team also beat GCC rival San Jose State in a non-conference matchup 10-9.

National Rankings: The Waves are once again near the top of the Collegiate Water Polo national rankings. The Collegiate Water Polo Association has Pepperdine ranked #6 in the seventh week of the season.

Schroeder: Head Coach Terry Schroeder is in his 27th year of coaching at Pepperdine. His first stint of coaching was from 1986-2005, after which he took an eight-year break to coach the United States National Team.
