Pepperdine Heads Up North for Two Games

Malibu, Calif. – The No. 7 Pepperdine men's water polo team heads up North this weekend for two huge games against Cal and San Jose State. The Waves will have a tough test in Cal, who they have not defeated since 2008.

Game #19: Saturday (Oct. 12) at 12:00 p.m. at Spieker Aquatic Complex in Berkeley, Calif.: No. 7 Pepperdine (13-5) vs. No. 6 California (10-5).

Game #20: Saturday (Oct. 5) at 6:20 p.m. at Student Recreation and Aquatic Center in San Jose, Calif.: No. 7 Pepperdine vs. San Jose State (3-10).

Conference Leaders: Balazs Kosa leads all Golden Coast Conference players in goals scored (55) and points (77) and is in a tie for second in assists with 22. Curtis Jarvis is also in the top 10 in assists with 19 and total points wtih 44. Marko Asic has 33 goals, good for fifth in the GCC. Â

Last Week: The Waves played two games in the Gary Troyer Tournament last week. They took on the 17th-ranked Pomona-Pitzer, defeating the Sagehens 13-7 before defeating Claremont-Mudd-Scripps 19-10. Balazs Kosa had 10 goals on the weekend.

National Rankings: The Waves are once again near the top of the Collegiate Water Polo national rankings. The Collegiate Water Polo Association has Pepperdine ranked #7 in the sixth week of the season.

Schroeder: Head Coach Terry Schroeder is in his 27th year of coaching at Pepperdine. His first stint of coaching was from 1986-2005, after which he took an eight-year break to coach the United States National Team.
