MALIBU, California – Pepperdine cross country and track head coach Robert Radnoti announced today his intention to retire from coaching at the conclusion of the 2019 track season.
Â
Radnoti is in his 13th season as head coach of the program and 14th overall. He joined the Waves as an assistant women's track coach in spring 2006 during its inaugural season, then became head coach of both programs ahead of the 2006-07 school year.
Â
"I have loved working with all of my athletes over the years and I'm looking forward to having one great last track season with them," Radnoti said. "Hopefully we'll set lots of PRs and make Pepperdine proud this spring."
Â
His student-athletes have shined both academically and athletically. Under his tutelage, cross country runners have been named to the All-West Coast Conference first team a total of six times. His runners have earned WCC All-Academic honors 91 times and WCC Commissioner's Honor Roll status 254 times.
Â
"We sincerely appreciate Coach Radnoti's 13 years of service leading our men's and women's cross country and track teams," Pepperdine Director of Athletics Dr. Steve Potts said. "He has shown an extraordinary level of commitment to, and an uncommon sense of caring for, all his student-athletes. We wish him great success in all of his future endeavors."
Â
In 2008, Radnoti brought men's track back to Pepperdine after a long absence. In 2016, the Waves competed in women's indoor track for the first time, while expanding opportunities for the men's outdoor team.
Â
A native of Las Vegas, Nevada, and a graduate of the University of Colorado, Radnoti previously coached at Thousand Oaks High School, and led the girls' cross country team to the 2005 Division I state championship.
