Waves Host Pre-Qualifying Rounds of Riviera/ITA All-Americans

MALIBU, Calif. – The Pepperdine women's tennis team opens the Riviera/ITA All-American Championships on Saturday morning by hosting the pre-qualifying rounds through the weekend. Those who advance through Sunday will trek to Pacific Palisades to continue with the qualifying round from Oct. 2-3 and main draw from October 4-7. Match play at the Ralphs-Straus Tennis Center will begin at 9 a.m.
#104 Dzina Milovanovic, Jessica Failla, Adrijana Lekaj and #7 (newcomer) Anastasia Iamachkine will compete this weekend in the pre-qualifying round, with Lekaj and Milovanovic and Failla and Iamachkine pairing up for doubles this weekend as well.
#41 Evgeniya Levashova advanced straight through to the qualifying round and will play both singles and doubles alongside Ashley Lahey. She and Lahey ranked #26 in the preseason doubles rankings. As a single, #4 Lahey has advanced through to the main draw.
RIVIERA/ITA ALL-AMERICAN
This is the 34th-consecutive year of the tournament that invites the nation's top Division I women's players to compete. In addition to vying for the All-American national title, players will be competing to secure a berth into the 2018 Oracle ITA National Fall Championships, which takes place November 7-11, in Surprise, Ariz. Singles quarterfinalists, consolations singles champion and finalist, along with doubles semifinalists and consolation doubles champion and finalist advance to the end of fall national championship.

Pre-Qualifying Round
Dzina Milovanovic ranked #104 in the Oracle/ITA preseason singles rankings. The senior posted a 22-11 overall record last season, with a 14-6 dual record and a 1-2 record against ranked opposition. In doubles, she tallied a 22-13 overall record with a 14-6 dual output and a 5-3 record against ranked competition. She earned All-WCC second team singles honors in 2016 and honorable mention status in 2018, while also recording All-WCC second team doubles honors in her three previous seasons with the Waves.
Adrijana Lekaj showcased her first performance of the season with the Waves in last week's Oracle/ITA Masters, collecting a 1-1 record against nationally ranked opponents. Last season, she marked a 10-2 overall singles output with a 9-2 dual record. She marked a 14-6 overall record in doubles last season, with a 9-3 performance in dual action. Lekaj earned All-WCC honorable mention in doubles in 2018.
This tournament will be Jessica Failla's first tournament of the 2018 fall season. She ranked #16 in the Oracle/ITA preseason rankings last season and posted a 1-1 overall record before redshirting the rest of her season. Before joining the Waves, Failla played two seasons at USC and earned All-Pac 12 second team honors with a 44-20 overall singles record and a 34-15 overall doubles record.
Anastasia Iamachkine, ranked #7 in the Oracle/ITA newcomer/freshmen rankings, will don the blue and orange for the first time this weekend. In juniors, Iamchkine posted a UTR of #11 and ranked as high as #77 in the ITF juniors rankings. She compiled a 63-40 singles record and a 58-36 doubles record in ITF junior's action, reaching the Copa Paineiras quarterfinals in singles and semifinal in doubles in 2018.
Qualifying Round
#41 Evgeniya Levashova jumped into the new season with an outstanding performance at the Oracle/ITA Masters last week, reaching the tournament final. She went 4-1 overall over the weekend, with a 3-1 record against nationally ranked opponents. She posted a two-set win over #17 Michaela Bayerlova of Washington State and a three-set win over #18 Kate Fahey of Michigan during the tournament. Last season, Levashova was named WCC Freshman of the Year, as well as receiving All-WCC singles first team and doubles second team honors.
In doubles, she posted a 16-9 overall record with a 14-6 dual output and a 5-2 record against ranked opponents.
Main Draw
#4 Ashley Lahey has moved directly into the main draw. Last season, Lahey made history as the first Wave to ever reach the NCAA Singles Championship final after an impressive showing through the opening rounds of play. She is a two-time ITA All-American in singles and earned a spot on the ITA Collegiate All-Star Team. She was ITA Southwest Region Player to Watch and WCC Freshman of the Year in 2017 and garnered All-WCC first team honors in 2017 and 2018 and doubles first team honors in 2017 and honorable mention status in 2018. Last season, Lahey marked a 27-5 overall record with a 12-2 dual output and a 14-4 record against ranked opponents.
In doubles, she put up a 15-6 overall record and a 14-4 dual record, while going 2-2 against ranked opposition.

After the Riviera/ITA All-American Championships, the Waves will play in a pair of ITF Pro Circuit events, before competing in the ITA Fall Championships from November 7-11 in Surprise, Ariz.
