Women's Soccer Begins WCC Play in NorCal

MALIBU, California — The Pepperdine women's soccer team heads into West Coast Conference play on a roll, having won four straight games, all via shutout. The two-time defending league champs open play at Pacific and Saint Mary's this weekend.
MATCH #11 — Friday (September 28) at Knoles Field in Stockton, California: Pepperdine (5-5, 0-0) at Pacific (2-7, 0-0) at 7 p.m.
MATCH #12 — Sunday (September 30) at Saint Mary's Stadium in Moraga, California: Pepperdine at Saint Mary's (5-4-1, 0-0, hosts LMU on Friday) at 1 p.m.

OPPONENTS — Pepperdine is a perfect 9-0 all-time against Pacific, including a 5-0 mark since the Tigers rejoined the WCC, and is 3-0 in Stockton. Last season, the Waves' posted a record-setting 9-0 win at home against Pacific, the fourth straight shutout against the Tigers ... Pepperdine is 12-7-4 all-time against Saint Mary's and has a 5-4-1 record in Moraga. The two schools played to a scoreless tie in Malibu last season.
LAST WEEK — Hailey Stenberg scored a 64th-minute goal off a Joelle Anderson assist to give the Waves a 1-0 road victory at UC Santa Barbara in the non-conference finale last Friday. The Waves outshot the Gauchos 18-4 and a strong defensive effort led to the Waves' fifth shutout of the year, and fourth in a row.
NOTABLE — Four of the Waves' five losses are to teams that have been nationally ranked (including current #2 USC and #16 UCLA) ... Twelve players have already missed at least one game due to injury, seven of which have started a game this season ... Pepperdine has had nine players make their first career starts, and 10 of the 27 players that have seen action have been true freshmen or redshirt freshmen ... All five wins have been by shutout ... Of the Waves to score multiple goals this season, all three of Joelle Anderson's have been game-winners, as have both of Hailey Stenberg's.
TICKETS — Single-game tickets at Tari Frahm Rokus Field cost $10 each for adults and $8 each for children under 12, seniors 65+ and alumni/Crest members. Groups of 10 or more can purchase tickets for $5 each.
