Waves End Non-Conference Play at UCSB

MALIBU, California — Now on a three-game winning streak, all via shutout, the Pepperdine women's soccer team closes out non-conference play this weekend. The regular season reaches the halfway point as the Waves visit UC Santa Barbara on Friday night.
MATCH #10 — Friday (September 21) at Harder Stadium in Santa Barbara, California: Pepperdine (4-5-0) at UC Santa Barbara (7-2-0) at 7 p.m.

OPPONENT — Pepperdine is 11-3-0 all-time against UCSB, with a 5-2 record in road games. The Waves have won the last five contests in Santa Barbara (the last meeting there was in 2011). Last season, the Waves won 1-0 in Malibu on a Joelle Anderson goal. Both the Waves and the Gauchos have beaten Brown by 1-0 scores this season.
LAST WEEK — The Waves took care of the preseason favorites in both the Mountain West and the Big West, as Pepperdine went on the road to defeat San Diego State, 1-0, before coming home to beat UC Irvine, 2-0. Joelle Anderson had the game-winning goal in both matches, while Isabel Nelson scored her first career goal against the Anteaters. The Waves outshot their opponents by a total of 24-10. Devyn Gilfoy, playing in her first game in a year, had the game-winning assist at SDSU. Trinity Watson assisted on both goals vs. UCI.
NOTABLE — Four of the Waves' five losses are to teams in this week's top 25 (#3 USC, #8 UCLA, #22 Texas Tech, #24 Kansas), while all five are in the RPI top 50 ... Twelve players have already missed at least one game due to injury, seven of which have started a game this season ... Pepperdine has had eight players make their first career starts, and 10 of the 27 players that have seen action have been true freshmen or redshirt freshmen ... Non-conference opponents won 60% of their games last season (106-66-27).
TICKETS — Single-game tickets at Tari Frahm Rokus Field cost $10 each for adults and $8 each for children under 12, seniors 65+ and alumni/Crest members. Groups of 10 or more can purchase tickets for $5 each.
