Women's Soccer Visits SDSU, Hosts UC Irvine

MALIBU, California — The Pepperdine women's soccer team has another split weekend ahead, as the Waves visit San Diego State before returning home against UC Irvine. The contest against the Anteaters will be Pepperdine's only home game among the next five matches.
MATCH #8 — Friday (September 14) at the SDSU Sports Deck in San Diego, California: Pepperdine (2-5) at San Diego State (2-4) at 4 p.m.
MATCH #9 — Sunday (September 16) at Tari Frahm Rokus Field in Malibu, California: Pepperdine vs. UC Irvine (1-4-1, plays at Fresno State on Friday) at 1 p.m.

OPPONENTS — Pepperdine is 5-3-0 all-time against SDSU, with a 2-2 record in San Diego. The teams last met in 2013 ... Pepperdine is 9-4-2 all-time against UC Irvine, including a 4-1-1 mark at home. Last season, the Anteaters scored first but the Waves came back for a 4-1 victory in Irvine (Joelle Anderson and Tara Morris had two of the goals).
LAST WEEK — The Waves didn't play badly on the road against then-#7 UCLA on Friday night, but the Bruins came away with a 3-0 victory. Pepperdine rebounded with a 1-0 victory over St. John's on Sunday that featured a 29th-minute goal by Hailey Stenberg.
NOTABLE — Four of the Waves' five losses are to teams in this week's top 25 (#3 USC, #8 UCLA, #18 Kansas, #24 Texas Tech) ... Ten players have already missed at least one game due to injury, six of which have started a game this season ... Pepperdine has had eight players make their first career starts, and 10 of the 26 players that have seen action have been true freshmen or redshirt freshmen ... Non-conference opponents won 60% of their games last season (106-66-27).
TICKETS — Single-game tickets at Tari Frahm Rokus Field cost $10 each for adults and $8 each for children under 12, seniors 65+ and alumni/Crest members. Groups of 10 or more can purchase tickets for $5 each.
