Women's Soccer Hosts Indiana on Friday

MALIBU, California — The Pepperdine women's soccer team has just one game this week as the Waves finish off a three-game homestand on Friday against Indiana.
MATCH #5 — Friday (August 31) at Tari Frahm Rokus Field in Malibu, California: Pepperdine (1-3) vs. Indiana (1-1-1) at 3 p.m.
ONLINE — The game will be streamed live via WaveCasts on TheW.tv. Pepperdine Athletics Hall of Famer Al Epstein has the call. Links to both broadcasts and live stats can be found at PepperdineWaves.com.
OPPONENT — Pepperdine is 1-0-0 all-time against Indiana. The Waves posted a 5-0 home victory in 2012. The Hoosiers went 6-9-4 last season and placed 11th in the Big Ten. They return nine starters and 19 players overall. Thus far, Indiana has beaten Miami-Ohio 3-0, tied at Georgia 2-2 and lost at Clemson 4-2.
LAST WEEK — The Waves posted their first win of the season in their home opener against Brown on Friday, 1-0, thanks to a Joelle Anderson fifth-minute goal. But #8 USC lived up to its ranking on Sunday and handed Pepperdine a 5-0 loss.
NOTABLE — Pepperdine has had five Waves make their first career starts, and 10 of the 26 players that have seen action have been true freshmen or redshirt freshmen ... The loss to USC was Pepperdine's first at home since 2016, as the Waves were 9-0-2 in their last 11 at Tari Frahm Rokus Field ... In that game, the Waves also gave up their first home goal since 2016, a span of more than 950 minutes (including 10 consecutive shutouts) ... Pepperdine's non-conference opponents won 60% of their games last season (106-66-27).
