STOCKTON, Calif. -- The Pepperdine baseball team finished its season at the West Coast Conference Tournament, falling to Gonzaga 17-2 in the final on Saturday at Banner Island Ballpark. Jordan Qsar, Matthew Kanfer and Cooper Chandler were named to the All-Tournament team.
The Waves finished their season as WCC regular season champions for the first time since 2014, and with a final record of 31-24. The Bulldogs (32-22) will move on to the NCAA baseball tournament.

- Sophomore infielder/outfielder Duncan McKinnon (Manhattan Beach, Calif./Redondo Union HS) had two of the Waves' hits, going 2-for-4 on the day. He hit .400 for the tournament, leading the team.
- Junior outfielder Matthew Kanfer (Playa del Ray, Calif./L.A.C.E.S.) went 1-for-4 on the afternoon.
- Sophomore infielder Quincy McAfee (Houston, Texas/Westside HS) drove in the only two runs for the Waves.

Gonzaga took the early lead, getting two runs in the second and one in the third to take a 3-0 lead.
The Waves scored two runs of their own in the bottom of the fourth inning when Chase Lambert and Kanfer both singled. McAfee hit a double down the line, scoring both Lambert from third and Kanfer from first, to make the score 3-2 in favor of Gonzaga.
From then on, it was all Gonzaga, as they racked up a total of 18 hits over the next five innings. The Bulldogs scored three runs in the sixth and seventh inning and four runs in the eighth and ninth, eventually taking the final game.
