The Waves (10-12, 2-3 WCC) led by a run going to the bottom half of the seventh inning, but a bases-loaded double gave the Lions (11-11, 4-1) a lead they never relinquished.

The Lions struck first in the second inning on a home run, giving them a 1-0 lead. The Waves responded in the top of the third when Jordan Qsar came up with the bases loaded. He promptly lined a ball up the middle for a two-run base hit, scoring Chase Lambert and Brandt Belk.

Christian Stoutland started on the mound for the Waves, going a strong 5.1 innings, including three strikeouts. He gave up two runs, the home run in the second, and an unearned run on an RBI single in the fourth after a throwing error moved runners to second and third.

Wills came up in the sixth inning and, on the first pitch he saw, hit a long fly ball over the right-field fence, breaking a 2-2 tie. The shot was his first in a Pepperdine uniform, after hitting six as a sophomore at Yavapai Junior College.

The Lions got to reliever Jeremy Farraye in the eighth, loading the bases with nobody out. Michael Mahony came into the game, and got back-to-back strikeouts before a bases-clearing double gave the Lions the game-sealing 5-3 lead.
