With the loss to the Ducks (4-2), the Waves (1-4) look to collect a pair of road wins against Alabama and Mississippi State next weekend.

PLAY-BY-PLAY

Dennis Uspensky and Nicholas Baez paired up for the Waves for the seventh time this year, falling to Armando Soemarno and Charles Roberts, 6-1. Max Mendelsohn and Yusuf Khamis teamed up for their fourth doubles contest, falling to Simon Stevens and Ty Gentry, 6-2. Dane Esses and Brian Berdusco took on the 17th-ranked team of Cormac Clissold and Thomas Laurent, and were facing a 3-5 deficit when the doubles point was won.

Down the doubles point, the Waves tried to mount a comeback, with Esses leading the way, winning his first set against Cormac Clissold. Uspensky lost his first set against #6 Thomas Laurent, and led 3-2 in the second set before eventually falling 6-4. Berducso, Baez and Esses did not get to finish their matches, but Baez was ahead in the second set, 4-1 against Ty Gentry, and Berdusco kept close his entire match.

The Waves head down South for matches against Alabama (2/9) and Mississippi (2/11) next week before hosting their first home match on Feb.18 against Arizona State.
