MALIBU, Calif. - The Pepperdine men's tennis team rolled to a dominating win on Sunday at Ralphs-Straus Tennis Center, defeating San Diego State, 6-1.
The Waves (2-6) crushed the Aztecs (2-8) in doubles to open the day, before picking up five two-set singles wins including the match-clinching win by Max Mendelsohn on court six.

During doubles play, the Waves and Aztecs were relatively close throughout the match. Court one finished first, with Dennis Uspensky and Dane Esses defeating Sander Gjoels Anderson and Nicholas Mitchell, 6-3. Brian Berdusco and Lautaro Pane also handled their match, clinching the doubles point with a 6-2 victory against Arnaud Restifo and Joel Popov. Max Mendelsohn and Yusuf Khamis broke the serve of Santiago Cevallos and Rafael Gonzales Almazan to go ahead in the match 5-4 before the doubles point was clinched.
In singles play, the Waves really started to roll. Esses won his match easily, defeating Restifo 6-2, 6-1 on court two. Uspensky was the next Wave to finish, defeating Cevallos 6-2, 6-4 in the No. 1 position in a hotly competitive second set. Max Mendelsohn clinched the match for the Waves, dominating the second set 6-1 after a back and forth 6-4 first set win on court six. Yusuf Khamis and Brian Berdusco both won their matches after the match was clinched, winning 6-2, 6-2 and 6-1, 6-4 respectively. Pane was defeated in his match on court five, 6-2, 6-1.
