MALIBU, Calif. - The Pepperdine baseball team dropped game three of the series with Michigan State 1-0 at Eddy D. Field Stadium on Sunday. Easton Lucas went six innings for the Waves despite taking the loss.
Michigan State had four hits to the Waves' two, but one run in the fourth inning proved to be the difference.

- Sophomore catcher Joe Caparis (Palos Verdes Estates, Calif./Palos Verdes HS) had one of the Waves two hits on the day in the third inning.
- Freshman infielder Billy Cook (Monument, Colo./Lewis Palmer HS) had the Waves' second hit in the fifth inning.

In a game with only one run combined, pitching was at a premium. Lucas started on the mound for the Waves throwing three scoreless frames to start the game. Ethan Mason started for the Spartans, going 5.0 IP, 0 R, 2 H, 0 BB before giving the ball off.
In the third inning, the Spartans got the lone run of the ball game, on a leadoff triple by Justin Antonic. He was brought in on a sacrifice fly from Bailey Peterson. Michigan State brought in Caleb Sleeman after five innings, relieving Mason. Mason's final line was 5.0 IP, 0 R, 4 K, 0 BB.
The Waves threatened in the eighth, when Aharon Modlin led off the inning with a walk. Caparis bunted him to second, but a strikeout and a lineout ended the inning.
Jeremy Farraye came on to pitch in the seventh inning. He had a perfect 1.2 innings, including a strikeout before Michael Mahony took the hill. He had two strikeouts, one in the eighth and one in the ninth, before being relieved by Jordan Qsar. Qsar got the final two outs of the ninth inning.
The Waves fell to 3-5 on the year, while the Spartans improved to 2-5.

The Waves hit the road to North Carolina next week, beginning with a game on Wednesday against Campbell. Then, on the weekend, they have games with East Carolina, St. Joseph's, and Missouri State in the LeClair Classic.
