WAVEPOINTS
• The Pepperdine men's basketball team will try to bounce back from its first home loss when the Waves travel across Southern California to visit UC Riverside on Thursday evening.
• Heading into the ninth game of the season, the Waves have the opportunity to already match last season's win total of six.
• Lorenzo Romar's second stint as head coach with the Waves is well underway. Romar now has 396 career wins, four shy of a milestone 400.
• Colbey Ross, coming off a 24-point, 11-assist effort in Monday's loss to CSUN, is fifth in the WCC in scoring (19.9) and second in assists (7.0). Nationally, he ranks fourth in free throws made (58) and ninth in assists.
• Pepperdine leads the WCC in three-point shooting (39.8%). Three different Waves have made at least five three-pointers in a game this season.
• The Waves also lead the WCC in turnover margin (+4.6) and steals (7.8). Three Pepperdine individuals are in the top 10 in steals.
• The Waves hope to stay healthy after being decimated by injuries the last two years. They lost 99 player-games in 2016-17 and 81 in 2017-18. But, last year's leading scorer, Kameron Edwards, has already missed five games, including the last four.
• Pepperdine is in a stretch of four games in eight days and will return home to face Jackson State on Saturday before taking a week off for final exams.
• To help Pepperdine students affected or displaced by the recent Woolsey Fire, please visit impact.pepperdine.edu/crisisresponse.
WAVECASTS — Thursday's game can be listened to online via WaveCasts at PepperdineWaves.com. Veteran play-by-play man Al Epstein, a 2015 Pepperdine Athletics Hall of Fame inductee, will be behind the microphone (now in his 34th season, this will be his 1,012th consecutive broadcast for the Waves).
TICKETS — Single-game tickets for most Pepperdine home games are $25 for reserved seating, $15 for adult general admission and $12 for child general admission. Select premium games are $30, $20 and $12, respectively. Tickets are available via PepperdineWaves.com or by calling (310) 506-4935.
PEPPERDINE — Pepperdine boasts a one-of-a-kind athletic department with unprecedented success for a school of its size. The Waves have won NCAA Division I championships in five different men's sports — one of just 18 schools to have accomplished this feat — and nine overall. Of this elite group, Pepperdine has the smallest undergraduate enrollment, is the only school without football and is the only university that has not been affiliated with a "major" conference. The Waves have won a total of 25 team or individual national championships in their history. Pepperdine has also earned the Division I-AAA All-Sports Trophy, an award based on postseason success that's given to the top non-football school, three times (most recently in 2011-12). The Waves have produced 205 conference championships, 318 All-Americans and 53 Olympians. Located in scenic Malibu, California, the university overlooks the Pacific Ocean and its campus and athletic facilities are regularly voted among the nation's most beautiful. Pepperdine, which is affiliated with the Church of Christ, ranks #46 overall on U.S. News and World Report's list of America's best colleges.
