MALIBU, Calif. – Head Coach Marcio Sicoli added Sutton MacTavish and Mary Sinclair to the Pepperdine's beach volleyball team's 2019-20 roster on Wednesday morning.
"I could not be happier with our 2019 class," said Sicoli. "They will impact every part of our program beginning on day one. Our 2019 class is a mix of physicality, experience and finesse on the beach - go Waves!"
Â
Sutton MacTavish, originally from Southlake, Texas, will join the Waves' roster after graduating from Carroll Senior High School in 2019. On the beach, she earned AAU Junior Olympic National Champion status in 2018, as well as finishing second at the BVCA National Championships, AVP National Championship and the CBVA Manhattan Beach Women's Open.Â
"Within an hour during my opening visit, I knew Pepperdine was the perfect fit and college for me," said MacTavish. "I instantly fell in love with the small-school environment and the people within the environment. Pepperdine's phenomenal beach volleyball team, program and first-class coaching staff, anchored my final decision. I cannot wait to become a student and member of the Pepperdine beach volleyball team in 2019!"
Indoor, MacTavish was a two-time MVP and captain for CSHS, while earning Academic All-District twice. She is also a member of Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA), a miracle league volunteer and member of Student-Athletes Serving Others (SASO). In club volleyball, she played for Texas Image and Beach Ten Thousand throughout high school, finishing club at U15.
Mary Sinclair, from Ventura, Calif., will join the program after graduating from Ventura High School in 2019. On the beach, she impressed with gold medal finishes at the CVBA Ocean Beach, Pismo Beach and Manhattan Beach. She was a top-finisher at AAU Nationals and finished 5th in BVCA's, along with being a finalist at the Junior Open. She also earned a silver medal finish in the High School Beach Pairs final.

"I chose Pepperdine because I wanted to attend a school where I could play high level beach volleyball, get a great education and where I could make an impact" said Sinclair.
On the indoor courts, she led her team to CIF Champion status, along with earning MVP and All-Tournament spots at Santa Barbara Tournament of Champions, San Luis Obispo Tournament and Royal Tournament of Champions. She is a Channel League first teamer, and has been named Rookie of the Year and Varsity MVP during her high school career. She played club beach volleyball for Valley Girls in Malibu for five years.
In high school, Sinclair is Vice President of ASB, President of the National Charity League Senior Class and a four-year academic honor roll student.
