PRINCEVILLE, Kaua'i – All five Pepperdine men's golfers shot under-par and the Waves have opened up a three-shot lead after Sunday's first round of the Warrior Princeville Makai Invitational.

The Waves shot a 15-under 273 – the sixth-best round in program history – at the par-72 Princeville Makai Golf Club. They have a three-shot lead over Ole Miss and a five-shot lead over UAB with two rounds to play.

PLAYER SCORES

Junior Joshua McCarthy (Danville, Calif./De La Salle HS) is tied for second place after a 6-under 66. He's one shot behind the leader. McCarthy had three birdies in his first five holes. After his only bogey on nine, he had four birdies on the back nine, including each of his final two holes.
Junior Clay Feagler (Laguna Niguel, Calif./Dana Hills HS) is tied for eighth place after a 4-under 68. Last week, Feagler was tri-medalist at the Royal Oaks Intercollegiate. He had seven birdies on the day, including one run on the back nine with three straight and five in six holes.
Freshman Joe Highsmith (Lakewood, Wash./Bellarmine Prep) is tied for 12th with a 3-under 69. He had a total of six birdies.
Sophomore RJ Manke (Lakewood, Wash./Bellarmine Prep) is tied for 16th with a 2-under 70. He recorded four birdies.
Sophomore Austin Murphy (Morgan Hill, Calif./Bellarmine College Prep) is tied for 30th with a 1-under 71. He had four birdies, three of which came in his final five holes.

UP NEXT

The second round begins with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. HT (11 a.m. PT) and the top four teams are paired together, putting the Waves with Ole Miss, UAB and Purdue.
