PRINCEVILLE, Kaua'i – The Pepperdine men's golf team has a four-shot lead after Monday's second round of the Warrior Princeville Makai Invitational and Joshua McCarthy stands in second place on the leaderboard.

The Waves couldn't duplicate their success from Sunday's first round, but took their lead from three shots to four with a two-day total of a 19-under 557 (273-284) at the par-72 Princeville Makai Golf Club. The Waves lead Missouri by four, Sam Houston State by seven and UAB by nine.

The Waves' score of 19-under ties the eighth-best 36-hole score in program history. McCarthy is at 11-under, tying the third-best effort ever by a Pepperdine golfer after two rounds. On Tuesday, he'll be trying to give the Waves their third straight individual winner, while Pepperdine is trying for its second team victory of the fall.

PLAYER SCORES

Junior Joshua McCarthy (Danville, Calif./De La Salle HS) is in second place with an 11-under 133 (66-67). He had four birdies and an eagle on the par-5 11th hole today, with just one bogey that came on the final hole.
Junior Clay Feagler (Laguna Niguel, Calif./Dana Hills HS) is tied for 13th place with a 4-under 140 (68-72). His even-par round had two birdies.
Sophomore Austin Murphy (Morgan Hill, Calif./Bellarmine College Prep) is tied for 20th with a 3-under 141 (71-70). His round of 2-under was the Waves' second-best of the day and it included three birdies and an eagle on the par-5 11th hole.
Sophomore RJ Manke (Lakewood, Wash./Bellarmine Prep) is tied for 45th at 145 (70-75). He had two birdies and was one of three Waves to eagle the par-5 11th.
Freshman Joe Highsmith (Lakewood, Wash./Bellarmine Prep) is tied for 53rd at 146 (69-77).

UP NEXT

The third and final round begins with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. HT (11 a.m. PT) and the top four teams are paired together, putting the Waves with Missouri, Sam Houston State and UAB.
