Women's Soccer Home to Face USF, #4 SCU This Weekend

MALIBU, California — The Pepperdine women's soccer team, looking to start a new winning streak, begins a four-game West Coast Conference homestand this weekend against San Francisco and #4 Santa Clara.
MATCH #13 — Friday (October 5) at Tari Frahm Rokus Field in Malibu, California: Pepperdine (6-6, 1-1) vs. San Francisco (7-5, 0-1) at 3 p.m.
MATCH #14 — Sunday (October 7) at Tari Frahm Rokus Field in Malibu, California: Pepperdine vs. #4 Santa Clara (10-1-1, 1-0, at LMU on Friday) at 1 p.m.

OPPONENTS — Pepperdine is 14-10-1 all-time against San Francisco. The Waves are 9-2-1 in Malibu against the Dons and are unbeaten in the last six meetings (5-0-1) here. Last season, the Waves won 1-0 at USF ... Pepperdine is 10-14-0 all-time against Santa Clara, with a 9-3-0 record in Malibu. Last year, the Waves posted a 5-0 road victory, ending a streak that saw the home side win 17 straight meetings (since 2000) and giving the Waves their first-ever win at Santa Clara. Joelle Anderson scored two goals and Calista Reyes had one. The Broncos' last win in Malibu was 1999.
LAST WEEK — On Friday, the Waves posted their fifth straight shutout victory with a 2-0 win in the WCC opener at Pacific behind goals by Joelle Anderson and Michelle Maemone. But on Sunday, the winning streak came to an end in a 1-0 loss at Saint Mary's. Despite outshooting the Gaels 17-5, the Waves couldn't find a goal and SMC scored on a 21st-minute penalty kick. The Waves' shutout streak ended at 476 minutes.
NOTABLE — All four of Joelle Anderson's goals this season have been game-winners, which is tied for the lead in the WCC ... The only other Wave to score multiple goals is Hailey Stenberg, and both of her goals have also been game-winners ... Anderson is sixth in the WCC at 0.44 goals per game ... Brielle Preece is tied for first in the WCC at 0.50 shutouts per game ... Twelve players have already missed at least one game due to injury, seven of which have started a game this season ... Pepperdine has had nine players make their first career starts, and 10 of the 27 players that have seen action have been true freshmen or redshirt freshmen ... All six wins this season have been by shutout (11 of 12 games this season have involved a shutout).
