Waves Host UCI, Travel to Top-Ranked USC

MALIBU, Calif. – This Week: The No. 6 Pepperdine men's water polo team has two games this weekend, hosting Golden Coast Conference opponent UC Irvine and traveling to USC.

Game #16: Saturday (Oct. 20) at 1 p.m. at Raleigh Runnels Memorial Pool in Malibu, Calif.. : No. 6 Pepperdine Waves (11-8, 1-0 GCC) vs. No. 11 UC Irvine (7-9, 0-1 GCC)

Game #17: Sunday (October 21) at Uytengsu Aquatics Center in Los Angeles,Calif. : No. 6 Pepperdine Waves vs. #1 USC (22-1) 0-1 MPSF

Team Leaders: Senior Chris Dilworth leads the team in points with 50 (43 goals, seven assists), followed by a pair of freshman in Balazs Kosa and Sean Ferrari, who have 43 and 39 points respectively. Dilworth also leads the team in shooting percentage (.551) and drawn exclusions (31).

GCC Leaders: Dilworth's 43 goals are good for fifth-best in the Golden Coast Conference. George Mooney is second in the conference in assists, with 25, behind Lucas Araya of Pacific. John Claude Marco's 113 saves are second in the conference. Mate Toth has 24 steals, good for third in the GCC.

Last Week: Last week, the Waves took part in the annual MPSF Invite. The team had two big wins against UC San Diego, winning 10-9, and Pacific, beating the Tigers 13-9. The two wins were good for sixth-place in the tournament.

Schroeder: Head Coach Terry Schroeder is in his 26th year of coaching at Pepperdine. His first stint of coaching was from 1986-2005, after which he took an eight-year break to coach the United States National Team.
