Wyoming pushed out to an 11-7 lead early in the second set and maintained a lead to a 24-19 advantage. Pepperdine refused to roll over, however, and six denied set points tied the set at 25's. The Waves had five set-point opportunities themselves, with back-to-back kills from Gross in the middle doing the final trick for a 31-29 set win.
With the 2-0 advantage, the Cowgirls came out strong in the third set, amassing a 7-5 lead early on. The Waves were quick to rally and close the gap for a 9-9 tie and continued to extend the lead en route to a 15-11 advantage late in the set. Pepperdine continued to hold the lead until the opposition tied the set at 22-22 with an ace. After another extra-point 25-25 tie, an attack error from the Cowgirls and a match-winning smash by Frohling put the Waves to a 27-25 set win and a 3-0 match victory.
