MALIBU, Calif. -- Max Mendelsohn and Brian Berdusco of Pepperdine University each got the first win of their collegiate tennis careers and advance to the round of 16 at the Battle in the Bay, hosted by San Francisco on Friday. Dennis Uspensky was defeated in a hard-fought match to end the Waves' run in the Oracle/ITA Masters on Friday, as was sophomore Dane Esses in the Battle of the Bay.

The tournament features a draw of 32 singles competitors including a selection of mixed men's and women's doubles. The tournament, hosted by Pepperdine and the Malibu Racquet Club, is played in Malibu, Calif. at the Ralphs Strauss Tennis Center and the Malibu Racquet Club.
