July 5, 2017 MALIBU, California " Katherine Zhu of the Pepperdine women's golf team picked up her third All-American Scholar award in three years from the Women's Golf Coaches Association today.
Zhu (Vancouver, B.C./Zhuji Hailiang Private School), who is heading into her senior season, is an international studies major. The WGCA award requires a minimum 3.5 grade-point average.
Zhu is also a two-time West Coast Conference All-Academic first team selection and a two-time Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholar.
She was an All-WCC first team selection as a junior and was one of three Waves to play in all 12 events. She averaged 76.13 strokes and four top-20 finishes, including a fourth-place result at the Golfweek Conference Challenge. Zhu helped the Waves to a 23rd-place finish at the 2017 NCAA Championships.
This is the 23rd time since 1995 that a Wave has received WGCA All-American Scholar status.
